Internal panel running in production at a school in the Dominican Republic: students and families, billing for every concept with a per-family account statement, tax-ID receipts, WhatsApp payment notices, delinquency with configurable late fees, scholarships and sibling discounts, plus staff records and payroll.
Problem
Charges were worked out by hand family by family, with scholarships, sibling discounts and late fees nobody could verify, and no view of who owed what
Solution
A single Node process over a one-file SQLite database: billing with money as whole cents, delinquency bucketed by days overdue, and WhatsApp notices with the detail already written
Result
Runs on a ~US$5/month VPS with no managed database, backed by 56 end-to-end tests over the billing math and role permissions
